    Description

I’m not sure but I THINK this wonderful folk art weaving is Navajo in origin with very unusual yarn additions that only I’ve only seen a few times (like some of Fannie Pete’s exceptional weavings, for example). The thing is that the top & bottom have been sewn off rather than finished like a typical Navajo weaving so I’m lacking other clues & can’t say for sure.  Please take a close look at the photos & use your own best judgment. The top and bottom are “finished” with a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine to keep them from unraveling, and then covered with strips of what looks like cotton bias tape.
That said, this unusual piece is so CHARMING. It’s colorful and nicely (if not perfectly) executed, quite tightly woven, and the yarn additions create a wonderful 3D effect in the landscape.  I especially love the puffy clouds!
This weaving might work well framed or as the front of a pillow.  Whether Navajo or not, there’s a ton of work in this piece, it’s wonderfully innovative & it’s got great folk art appeal.
It measures about 16 x 20”.  There are maybe some faint spots & some pulled threads here and there.  Again, please take a close look at the photos.
    Thanks for looking!
