Description
Set of Nine (from 1969 through 1977) Formula One Grand Prix of the United States Posters from Historic Watkins Glen Raceway in Upstate NY.Michael Turner was the original artist for each of the original annual paintings that were the source of these original promotional posters.
All posters are 28”x20” whether they are vertical (seven of the posters)or horizontal (two of the posters).
Great for framing and adding to your sports room, garage, or den.
Vivid colors and each poster has a text description of the setting, vehicles and area of the track depicted in the poster. All posters are in good condition, with a few of them having small moisture damage on the edges as shown in the pictures. One poster has a partial tear in the lower right corner.
Posters will ship wrapped in hard mailing tube.
The included posters are:
1969
– Michael Turner painted his first poster heralding The American Grand Prix in 1969. He portrayed Jackie Stewart
in his Matra Ford leading a Lotus and McLaren through the Esses.
1970
– Brabham leading a March, Lotus and a McLaren under the Dunlop (Start/Finish) Bridge while Emerson Fittipaldi won his first race.
1971
– The 1971 race was the first to use the multi-million dollar reconstructed circuit.
Jackie Stewart’s Tyrrell leads a Ferrari, BRM and March through turn 9 where the 1.1mile “extension” rejoins the original circuit.
1972
– Silver Anniversary year with Jackie Stewart between turns 10-11.
1973
– A McLaren leading a Tyrell at the Start/Finish line with the Scoring Tower in the background.
1974
– Michael Turner portrayed a Ferrari and a Shadow sweeping through one of the The Glen’s 11 corners. Carlos Reutemann scored the first-ever Brabham victory at The Glen.
1975
– Niki Lauda’s Ferrari is leading the charge away from the Start/Finish line, eventually winning the race.
1976
– James Hunt leading Jody Scheckter and Niki Lauda through the Esses.
1977
– James Hunt wins in a rain-soaked race with Mario Andretti second.
Niki Lauda finished fourth to clinch his second World Championship.
